Windy Knoll Golf Club is built on the site of the former Windy Knoll Horse Farm, a world-class facility that was home to Avatar, Native Uproar and other Derby-quality horses. Legend has it that Four-Ten, one of the more well known horses from the farm, is buried beneath what is now the 12th hole. The thoroughbred history of Windy Knoll is not only captured in the full-size steel sculptures of horses, miles of black rail fencing and the quiet creek that cuts through course, but also in the names of the holes along the course, including The Pasture, Stallion Row, The Saddle and Starting Gate.
Although we offer many of the features and amenities of a private club here at Windy Knoll, including membership, our course is, in fact, open to the public. The course was built in 2001, not all that long ago, but the incorporation of elements from horse farm days, along with the rolling terrain, give our Scottish links-quality layout a unique feel and playing experience here in Central Ohio that is reminiscent of classic courses.
The course offers 6,820 yards of golf. It has a course rating of 70.4 and a slope rating of 128 on bent grass. The course was designed by Brian Huntley, ASGCA. Water hazards do come into play throughout the course and there are trees and rough lining the fairways.
When it comes to golf, we have it all covered. From lessons and training to all of the equipment and apparel that you need to complement your game, right here in our Pro Shop.
After you are done playing, relax at The Stables, our on-site restaurant that features outdoor seating next to a quiet pond. On Friday nights in the spring, summer and fall, be sure to join us for Friday Night at the Stables, featuring local bands.
